This book is divided into 14 chapters, the first providing an introduction to the subject and defining the aims and scope of the book. The volume is intended to provide a critical assessment of minimal access surgery in the often circumscribed area of surgical oncology. Its aim is to give an objective view of the role of minimal access surgery as it relates to established oncological principles, diagnosis and treatment. It provides a balanced view of the benefits and drawbacks of these approaches, but it is not a technical description of minimal access surgery.
